Welcome
Welcome to the Pan American Health Care Exchanges Conference,
PAHCE 2011, a meeting designed to create opportunities for cooperation, linkages
and mutual enrichment especially among researchers and professionals of health
care delivery and related technologies.
The PAHCE 2011 meeting takes place in the Rio de Janeiro, a city very well known
for its natural beauty and rich culture. Founded in 1565 by Estácio de Sá, it
was the capital of Brazil from 1763 to 1960 and also served as the center of the
Portuguese empire during the Napoleonic war period (1808). It experienced
economic cycles based on sugarcane, gold and coffee. Now, Rio is one of the most
desired tourist destinations since the sixties and is the place where the next
Soccer World Cup (2014) and Olympic Games (2016) will take place.
The program will include activities in three official languages (English,
Spanish, and Portuguese). However, we have recommended that the presented
material be in English so everybody will become aware of the latest research and
developments independently where they take place. We hope you all will enjoy
PAHCE 2011 activities, spend some time in getting to know each other and that
it will open the doors to professional collaborations and linkages.
